Remove and Install the Backplane Circuit Board (XT) for Frames 7 and 8...15
Replace a control pod backplane circuit board with kit catalog number SK-RM-PODBP1. Follow these steps to remove and install the backplane circuit board.
- Review the product advisories in Before You Begin.
- Remove power from the system.
- Open the enclosure door.
- Remove the control pod cover.
- For frame 7 products, see Remove and Install the Control Pod Cover for Frame 7.
- For frame 8…15 products, see Remove and Install the Control Pod Cover for Frames 8...15.
- Remove the main control circuit board.

- For frame 8…15 products, see Remove and Install the Main Control Circuit Board (XT) for Frames 8...15.IMPORTANT: The main control circuit board and option module circuit board edge connectors contain dielectric grease. Do not touch the edge connectors on the board.
- Disconnect and remove any option modules from the backplane circuit boards.
- Remove the two M4 x 8 mm Torx screws that secure the backplane circuit board (A) to the pod chassis and remove the board.TIP: This frame 8…15 control pod is shown separated from the enclosure to clarify the instructions only.
- Install the backplane circuit board in the reverse order of removal.IMPORTANT: Do not remove protective covers (B) from wire harnesses, circuit board connectors, terminal blocks, and fiber-optic transceivers and ports unless used at the time of installation. For the product to meet the corrosive atmosphere rating, protective covers must remain installed in unused connectors during storage and operation.
