Remove and Install the Power Feedback Circuit Board and Bracket - Frame 5

Replace a power feedback circuit board and bracket with kit catalog number SK-RM-PFB-F5-F6 or SK-RM-PFB2-F5-F6-F6L. Follow these steps to remove and install the power feedback circuit board and bracket.
  1. Review the product advisories in Before You Begin.
  2. Remove power from the system.
  3. Remove the cover from the chassis. See Remove and Install the Frame 5 Cover.
  4. Remove the stirring fan from the drive. See Remove and Install the Stirring Fan Assembly for Frame 5.
  5. If used, disconnect the
    DPI
cable (A) from the connector (port 2) on the human interface module (HIM) cradle (XT), or disconnect the mini-DIN (port 2) connector on the main control board (standard).
TIP: If a cable is not connected to the
    DPI
port on the HIM cradle (XT), be sure to leave the protective cover installed.
  6. Disconnect any Ethernet cables from the Ethernet ports (B) on the bottom of the main control board in the control pod.
  7. If used, disconnect the plug-in terminal block (C) from the connector on the bottom of the main control board.
  8. If used, disconnect any I/O wiring terminal blocks from an installed option module.

TIP: The inner control pod chassis is shown removed from the drive chassis for clarity only.
  9. Remove the two M4 x 10 mm slotted-Torx screws that secure the human machine interface (HMI) flex circuit connector to the power interface circuit board.
IMPORTANT: The HMI flex circuit connector connects the main control circuit board to an edge connector on the power feedback circuit board below it. Take care when lifting the control pod and support bracket off the drive chassis so that circuit board damage does not occur.
  10. Remove the six M5 x 10 mm Torx screws that secure the control pod support bracket and control pod to the chassis and carefully lift and remove the control pod and bracket from the chassis.

  11. Remove the two M4 x 10 mm Torx screws that secure the power feedback circuit board and support bracket to the chassis and carefully lift the bracket and board edge connectors off the connectors on the power circuit board.

  12. IMPORTANT: Circuit boards that are contained in renewal kits with XT contain dielectric grease on the edge connectors, where present. Do not touch or remove the grease from circuit board edge connectors. A non-greased connector can lead to corrosion. If before you install the new board, grease is removed from an edge connector or is contaminated, do not install the circuit board. You must clean and reapply grease to the affected edge connector or connectors. See Clean and Apply Dielectric Grease to a Fiber Transceiver Edge Connector (XT).
  13. On the new power feedback circuit board, for each protective cover, hold the tab (D) on the cover and carefully remove the cover from the edge connector on the circuit board. Do not touch the edge connector.
example of how to remove the protective covers from the edge connectors on the power feedback circuit board with XT
  14. Complete the remaining steps to install the power feedback board and bracket in the reverse order of removal.
    • Before reinstallation of the control pod and support bracket, remove the protective cover (E) from the upper edge connector on the power feedback circuit board.
    • Verify that the HMI flex-circuit connector on the lower, right side of the control pod seats properly on the edge connector on the top of the power feedback board when you re-install the control pod.
