Remove and Install the LCL Filter Module Current Sense Circuit Board for Frames 8...15

Replace the LCL filter module current sense circuit board with the appropriate kit catalog number:
  • SK-RM-CSB1-263, 263 A (compatible with LCL filter module catalog numbers 20-750-ML1-C540D505, 20-750-ML1-E395F370, and 20-750-ML1-E545F505)
  • SK-RM-CSB1-350, 350 A (compatible with LCL filter module catalog numbers 20-750-ML1-C770D740, and 20-750-ML1-E760F735)
  • SK-RM-CSB1-525, 525 A (compatible with LCL filter module catalog numbers 20-750-ML1-C1K1D1K0 and 20-750-ML1-E980F920)
  • SK-RM-CSB1-700, 700 A (compatible with LCL filter module catalog number 20-750-ML1-C1K4D1K3)
TIP: The LCL filter module catalog number is located on the data nameplate on the front of the module.
Follow these steps to remove and install the current sense circuit board.
  1. Review the product advisories in Before You Begin.
  2. Remove power from the system.
  3. Open the corresponding power bay enclosure door.
  4. Remove the LCL filter module from the enclosure.
  5. If installed, remove the EMC filter circuit board from the LCL filter module.
  6. IMPORTANT: The minimum inside bend radius for fiber-optic cable is 50 mm (2 in.). Any bends with a shorter inside radius can permanently damage the fiber-optic cable. Signal attenuation increases as inside bend radius is decreased.

  7. Without bending the cable to a radius less than 50 mm (2 in.), disconnect the fiber-optic cable from the transceiver in the LCL port on the current sense circuit board.
example of how to remove the fiber-optic cable from the transceiver on the current sense circuit board in an frame 8…15 LCL filter module
  8. If the top-most receptacle on the back of the LCL filter module contains a filter capacitor, remove the capacitor. If the top-most receptacle on the back of the LCL filter module does not contain a filter  capacitor, complete steps a and b.
    1. Remove the lower two M6 x 16 mm Torx screws that secure the cover to the chassis.
    2. Loosen the upper two M6 x 16 mm Torx screws that secure the cover to the chassis and remove the cover.
example of how to remove the top access cover on a frame 8…15 LCL filter module
  9. IMPORTANT: The current sense circuit board and tray cannot be removed from the LCL filter chassis fully, until the cable ties are cut and the wire harness connections to the board are
  10. Remove the two M5 x 10 mm Torx screws that secure the current sense circuit board tray to the side of the chassis.
  11. While supporting the circuit board tray, loosen, but do not remove, the two M5 x 12 mm Torx screws that secure the current sense circuit board tray to the back of the chassis and lift the tray off the screws.

  12. Cut the cable ties that secure the wires to the circuit board tray.
  13. Disconnect these connectors from the current sense circuit board:
    • P8 from J8
    • P5 from J5
    • P6 from J6
    • P12 from J13
    • P4 from J4
    • P1 from J1
    • P14 from J14 (must be reused to maintain the rating of the module)

  15. Remove the circuit board tray from the module chassis.
  16. Remove the five M4 x 8 mm Torx screws that secure the current sense circuit board to the circuit board tray and remove the circuit board.
example of how to remove the current sense circuit board from a frame 8…15 LCL filter module
  17. Install the current sense circuit board in the reverse order of removal.
  18. After the wire harness connectors have been reconnected to the circuit board, secure the harness wires to the circuit board tray by using cable ties in the same locations as previously secured.
  19. Remove the protective cover from the LCL  port on the new AC precharge circuit board.
example of how to remove the cover from the fiber-optic transceiver port with XT protection
  20. Remove the new transceiver supplied with the kit from the packing materials.
  21. IMPORTANT: The end of the transceiver that connects to the inside of the fiber port contains dielectric grease. Do not touch the end of the transceiver.
  22. Remove the protective covers from the transceiver.
example of how to remove the covers from the ends of a fiber-optic transceiver with XT protection
  23. Without bending the cable to a radius less than 50 mm (2 in.), fully insert the fiber-optic cable into the transceiver.
example of how to insert a fiber-optic cable into a transceiver
  24. Insert the transceiver and fiber-optic cable into the port on the board, until you hear an audible ‘click.’
