Remove and Install the Coolant Hose - Frame 6L
Replace a liquid coolant hose with kit catalog number 20L-GH10-B1 or 20L-GH30-B1. Follow these steps to remove an install the cooling hose.
- Review the product advisories in Before You Begin.
- Remove power from the system.
- By using the heat-exchanger manufacturer’s instructions, remove the coolant hose (A) from the heat exchanger.
- To provide resistance only, place and hold a backup hexagonal wrench (B) on the drive-side fitting (1 5/8 in. flats).
- IMPORTANT: Do not use the backup wrench on the fitting locknut.
- By using a second hexagonal wrench (C), loosen the swivel nut (1 1/2 in. flats) on the heat-exchanger side hose and remove the coolant hose.
- Lubricate the inside of the new cooling hose end (D) with a small amount of liquid soap.
- TIP: To be sure the hose connects to the coupling completely, make the connection by using one continuous downward motion.
- Place the coupling (E) on a solid surface and, in one firm motion, push the hose end (D) onto the coupling until the hose end is flush against the plastic bushing.
- Install the coolant hose in the reverse order of removal.
- Apply a final torque of 69…77 N•m (51.0…56.7 lb•ft) to the hose fitting.
