contains foundational features and functions to assist you when creating projects.
- Welcome screen. The first screen that you see when you launch the software. It provides quick access to various features and functions of the software.
- About. Use theAboutdialog box to view general information aboutFactoryTalk Design Studioand to access the release notes. View this information:
- Toolbar. Use the ions on the Toolbar to access areas of the interface of to perform functions.
- Object icons. Use the object icons to view the state of the software and features.
- Explorer bar. Access the various explorers from the Explorer bar.
- System explorer. Use theSystemexplorer to focus on the logical design of your project. Create FactoryTalk Smart Object elements to create tags, programs, and routines. The logic in the FactoryTalk Smart Objects defines the behavior of an item in a system or a plant.
- Devices explorer. Use theDevicesexplorer to view and manage the hardware used in the project. All hardware devices added to the project appear. If no devices are added to the project, theDevicesexplorer is empty.
- Execution explorer. TheExecutionexplorer displays all project content that will execute in a controller after the controller is deployed. Use theExecutionexplorer to design a physical model of your project and organize the contents of a project that has an assigned controller and tasks.
- Library explorer. Use theLibraryexplorer to moveFactoryTalk Smart Objectdefinitions from theSystemexplorer for reuse.
- Pane bar. Use the Pane Bar icons to toggle the visibility of panes at specific locations in the user interface.
- View panes. Toggle to view panes at a specific location in the user interface.FactoryTalk Design Studio.
- Set layout. Move panes to other locations to customize the user interface.
- Reset layout. Reset layout to restore the default position, pinned status, and visibility of panes in theFactoryTalk Design Studiointerface.
- View tabs.Viewtabs to open certain functionality, including the Tag Editor, routines for the Ladder Editor, andChange history.
- Properties pane. Use thePropertiespane to view and change properties.
- View messages and status with the Output pane. Use aConsoletab and aMessagestab. to view messages and statuses in the Output pane.
- View messages for the tags and logic in the project. View error, warning, and information messages for the logic in your project.
- View the status of operations. View the status of an operation, such as deploying a project to one or more controllers.
