Multiple FactoryTalk Optix Studio installations on a single device

Multiple
FactoryTalk® Optix Studio™
 installations versions can coexist on a single device: Newer installations do not automatically replace older ones.
A device can have multiple and simultaneous
FactoryTalk® Optix Studio™
 instances stored in separate folders named by the version number in the
Program Files
FactoryTalk Optix
 repository.
IMPORTANT: More
FactoryTalk® Optix Studio™
 installations can run at the same time.
Multiple VPN network interfaces install together with their related
FactoryTalk® Optix Studio™
 installations.
TIP: If you try to open the same project in another
FactoryTalk® Optix Studio™
 instance, a warning appears and prevents you from opening it:
The project shares the same name as another project currently open in a different FactoryTalk Optix Studio instance
.
  1. Log in to GitHub from each
    FactoryTalk® Optix Studio™
     instance by selecting
    Settings
    Version control
    .
  2. When you no longer need a
    FactoryTalk® Optix Studio™
     instance, uninstall it and the related VPN network interfaces.
  3. While installing a newer version of
    FactoryTalk® Optix Studio™
    , a dialog box prompts you to select whether to overwrite older installations.
